DCBC Meeting: Raising Russian Honeybees – January 21

Happy New Year everyone and welcome to beekeeping 2025; the 10th anniversary year of the Door County Beekeepers Club. This meeting will be an exciting way to begin the new year with elections and an exciting program. In accordance with our new bylaws, the membership will now elect officers each year. Those positions include President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary. We will present slate of individuals that have indicated an interest in serving and then accept nominations from the membership. Voting will be by paper ballot and the results presented after the program.

Sue Dompke, owner of Sweet Mountain Apiary on Washington Island will present “Raising Russian Honeybees”. Discover the unique behaviors that make Russian honeybees ideally suited for Wisconsin. Journey through the life of a successful apiary from startup to established market. Learn how to be a better beekeeper.
Sue cultivates colonies of Russian Bees, raises queens and builds and sells bee box equipment and honey. She has been featured on PBS Wisconsin Life, is a presenter across the state and hosts hands-on workshops for beekeepers at her 18-acre facility.
