DCBC Meeting: Honey Harvesting – July 15
July 15 @ 6:30 pm

5:30 p.m. Hive Dive
Susan Braun’s Apiary
5336 County Road P, Sturgeon Bay
We host club hive dives May, June, and July at various hives. This is a great opportunity for new and interested beekeepers to learn more about hive checks and what they should be looking for. Bring your protective gear. When you arrive at Susan’s, please park along the driveway. It’s a short walk over to the apiary, which is on the west side of her property between the fence line and the corn field.
6:30 p.m. Meeting
Collins Learning Center at Crossroads
Topic: Honey harvesting and equipment needed
Presenter: Jonathan Parsons
As we approach honey harvest season, please remember that the club has harvesting equipment for members to use. There are two extractors, filters, a hot knife, honey pails, and bee suits of all sizes. These are available on a first-come basis, to members with current paid dues. The equipment trailer will be at all club meetings and events through October or contact Mark Lentz.
Our speaker this month will be club member Jonathan Parsons who will discuss honey harvesting for the small-scale producer and hobbyist. A demonstration will be part of the presentation. This will be an extremely informative meeting and an excellent opportunity for new beekeepers to learn how to remove honey and enjoy their harvest.
